Knowledge is of two kinds: we know a subject ourselves, or we know where we can find information upon it.

About Us

The Koogler Group is an educational design firm specializing in prelicensing, job skills training, continuing education, and regulatory compliance programs for the title insurance industry.

Established in 1986, the firm is the leading independent provider of title insurance programs, products, and services in the United States. In 1993, Karen Koogler, CEO, began authoring title agent licensing textbooks for the title insurance industry and teaching prelicensing courses in Florida [1993], Indiana [2005], and Virginia [2008]. She continues that work at a national level, today, with a series of Multi-State Study Manuals directed at title agent licensure and closing agent and title examiner licensure or certification.

In 2009, Karen authored two textbooks on the RESPA Final Rule and delivered full-day implementation training to more than 5,000 title agents, attorneys, and loan originators throughout the country, before uploading the courses to our Online Training Portal for access by all industry professionals. Throughout the project, Karen personally responded to student questions via email, answering more than 1,000 questions on the RESPA Final Rule in “real world” terms with “regulatory world” references.

Today, The Koogler Group is in the process of gathering the most qualified instructors and course providers in the country to work in collaboration on populating online and classroom courses as part of the National Title Insurance Academy [NTIA™] project.

In 2012, Karen goes on the road with two new 3-hour courses, comprising part of the Five Star Best Practices Program series of courses, which may be booked by state land title associations, underwriters, and other interested Course Sponsors. The two new courses may be booked individually or combined to create a full-day program. The Koogler Group will assist Course Sponsors in obtaining CE/CLE accreditation.

Economic Ethics Course [3 Hours]

This course uses a past-present-future format to: (1) address ethical lapses which led, in too many cases, to unlawful actions, during the past decade; (2) consider present-day choices that will lay the foundation for a more ethical future; and (3) consider the future consequences of present-day choices. The course continues with highlights from the 2010 Gallup Poll on honesty and ethics in business practices and the Harvard Business Study on the economic benefit of ethical practices, followed by a comparative analysis of law v. ethics, an overview of Five Star Best Practices, and guidelines for ethical decision-making [excerpted from Bringing Ethics and Values to the Bottom Line], and concluding with an excerpt from the textbook, Walking In Integrity: 22 Life Steps for Living Life on Purpose and With Purpose. At the end of the day, a company’s Ethics Code is only as strong as the Shared Values of its employees. What we DO, as business professionals, flows directly from who we ARE, as human beings. As noted above, the strength of a nation derives from the integrity of the home… and those who reside therein. As a nation, and as global citizens, we are only as strong as our weakest link.

Safety-Security-Sustainability Course [3 Hours]

This course focuses on two of the most important issues facing settlement/escrow professionals today – protecting other peoples’ money and protecting customers’ non-public personal information. Focusing on the fiduciary duties flowing from escrow accountability and extreme customer care, this course is a must-attend for those performing settlement/escrow tasks – from contract to closing and beyond. Beginning with the fiduciary fundamentals, with excerpts from Ms. Koogler’s Internal Audit Guide and the Multi-State Study Manual for Closing Agents – the course expands to include current-day threats created by still-escalating fraud, forgery, and embezzlement as well as technology/Internet-driven threats of remote deposit capture, online banking, and the “Botnet Beasties” [just wait ‘til you hear what Zeus P2P has up its cybercrime sleeve].

If you would like to add one or both courses to your annual convention, agency-seminar, or in-house training program, please contact KarenKoogler@KooglerGroup.com. Please schedule at least 90 days in advance of course date, to provide time for obtainment of state CE/CLE accreditation.

We take care of people… so people can take care of business.
