In the ‘Olden Days’ most people opening small-business (micro) title agencies were either really experienced title examiners or really experienced settlement (closing) agents who decided they had enough ‘industry smarts’ to open their own title agencies.

That is not the case today. Many small-business (micro) title agencies are opened by those with some adjunct-industry experience (e.g., real estate or mortgage lending) with many others opened by those with no direct- or adjunct-industry experience. This is especially the case when industry revenues are high.
